Petr Musilek
Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Associate Dean in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta

Petr Musilek is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Associate Dean (Partnerships and Research Initiatives) in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada. He is a recognized expert in the digitalization of energy systems and the founding director of the Alberta Power Industry Innovation Centre (APIC), where he facilitates collaboration between academia and leading industry stakeholders.
He is at the forefront of the global debate on trustworthy and responsible technology. Recently, he delivered the keynote address at the IEEE 2025 International Conference on Energy Technologies for Future Grids (ETFG). His other recent contributions include a specialized tutorial at the IEEE 2025 International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC) on intelligent systems for equitable energy grids, as well as his leadership as General Chair of the IEEE International Conference on Humanitarian Technology. His research focuses on Responsible AI, bridging the gap between advanced data science and the physical realities of critical infrastructure to build intelligent, resilient, and inclusive energy systems.
